In the summer of 1943 the 17 year-old Jacek Zieliniewicz was arrested and deported to Auschwitz-Birkenau. In the spring of 1945 he survived a death march to the Reich. After his liberation, till the December of 1945 he lived in the French Occupation Zone before the return to his hometown Janowiec in Poland. In the 80’s, 40 years after his traumatic experience, he broke the silence and engaged in educational activities about the Holocaust and concentration camps all over the world.
