A surface is the outward appearance, the outside, the exterior boundary of a thing. It is what the camera is faced with, and what photography attempts to unveil. These photographs can be thought of as a study of form, texture, and surfaces: an attempt to pick away at the exterior of things, and find common ground, associations. Brought together, they have the weave of a novel, and dance between depth and surface, essence and appearance, document and fiction.
