“Yusurika” is the name of a tiny bug in Japanese. I came across this bug through a careful observation of the natural world. I decided to create a series based on this little creature, which look like small sparkly dots in my photographs.

I grew up in a small town in Fukui, surrounded by the rich wildlife. After moving to Tokyo at the age of 18 and having already spent a decade in the big city, I realized that I am naturally and constantly searching for the nature, which I believe have something to do with my past and upbringing.

Observing the wildlife allows me to once again recognize and think about the attractions it offers. While playing in the nature, I am exploring and reflecting upon my own past. It is this linking of memory and the genuine affinity towards the wildlife that I wish to express through my work.
