The images of Ann-Sophie Deproost observe a ‘daily-ness’ of which the awareness of the immediate area takes a prominent place. The density and stratification of space and time fascinate her. ‘Being’, in which a human is constantly in relationship with surrounding objects, its own subject and reality. Where does reality starts, where does she cracks and where does reality misleads us by showing only a reflection of reality? A philosophy of the dailiness captured in images.
The images of Ann-Sophie Deproost do not only reflect on the daily but also focuses on the meta-level of the images themselves. Manipulation and reproduction in the darkroom and searching for the boundaries of both the analog and digital photography tarnish a border area with other media such as drawing and film.
