Aurora a series of images created at the Aurora Photo Center / Herron darkroom residency in August 2022. During my stay at Aurora, I experimented in the darkroom with my collection of found negatives through multiple exposure and collage. The figures in the images are unknown to me – anonymous. In my work I tend to obscure and obstruct the identity of the subject and it felt appropriate to continue this practice. I was curious about the past lives of these people I found; I was eager to get acquainted. Yet, their lives remain a mystery. Following the residency, I continue to work through my collection, re-working the prints, creating new images, and framing the work for a future exhibition in 2024.
