This project is concerned with the physical and intellectual construction of the nation of Germany. It focuses on the traces of human activity and the reflections of former ideologies and Utopias on the surfaces of Germany’s cities and towns, its places of memory and its landscape. By capturing the expressive power of the nation’s material, manmade environments, the work is an attempt to address poetically the transience and instability of history, and the idea that the past is never truly over, but that it continues to influence and haunt our present.
