“The Prohibited Islands” is a miniseries coming from all “The Two Labyrinths”. They consist of a set of nine photographs, based on the principle of setting in abyss, interpations, reconstitution, look through. This collection of forbidden spaces of any visit (these islands are indeed forbidden to anyone for various reasons, animal, environmental, geological, political) causes an ambiguous relation to the presence, the latter can only be distant, remote. Between document and fiction, these ghost images, recreated in my studio with outdated means (dust, sawdust and flocking) playing on a duality between presence and absence. Harsh, barren, primitive it suggests more than it shows. These molecular monsters are only images of images.
Like any presence it is only insecurity, hybrid and chaotic form. As it proceeds any photograph of a fictitious reconfiguration.
