These photographs, found vernacular snapshots, have undergone drastic transformation thanks to weather and time. The resultant compositions question photography’s role as a preserver of memory, and asks the viewer to reconsider the accuracy of the photograph as an indexical tool. Due to the paper’s decay, the photographic surface is elevated to the same level of importance as the image depicted. Merging together, the two components produce a new iteration of the original that points directly at the unstable, tenuous relationship we have with photographic images. Through collecting, editing, digitizing, and re‐presenting these images, I am temporarily halting the process of dissolution.
